Volunteering
Volunteers help with Girlguiding in many ways, from running a unit, helping with administration, maintaining our hut, help with fundraising or even to visiting units to teach a special skill. We also enjoy social events, go on trips and have a lot of laughs.
Unit Volunteering Roles
Leader or Unit Helper
Help girls to have fun, try new things and join events. Help plan what the girls will do each week, run residential trips or go on trips - the sky is your limit!
Share your Skills
Do you keep bees? Speak sign language? Throw pottery? Teach karate? You can visit units to introduce girls to your interest or skill - the units would cover costs of any materials.
Young Leader
If you are 14-18, you can volunteer as a Young Leader, or volunteer as part of your Duke of Edinburgh award. Have fun, gain leadership skills and confidence.
Non-unit Volunteering Roles
Treasurer
Are you comfortable with a spreadsheet? You could help a unit with their accounts - tracking expenses, income and receipts.
Handyperson
Are you a practical person? You could help maintain our district hut with simple repairs or improvements, or arranging to meet with tradespeople for more specialist jobs.
Events Volunteer
If you're able to volunteer occasionally, perhaps volunteering at events would suit yout best. From Discos to Night Hikes, Sports Day to Fundraising stalls, we have many events that you could support.
Administrator
If the time you have to volunteer varies, this may suit you perfectly. You could help a unit by keeping records updated, maintaining a waiting list or responding to email enquirires.
